Fun Dee Hostel, Ayutthaya

How Much Did It Cost?

I booked a standard 6 bed shared dorm for two nights through Hostel World. This cost me 540 THB. Roughly around £6-7 at the time of writing.

What Is The Location Like?

Fun Dee Hostel is on a fairly quiet road between the railway station and the historical park. Although it’s on a quiet road, it is just a 10 minute walk to either, which was ideal. Also, staying a little away from the railway station meant I was closer to the big night market that’s held at the other side of the historical park, plus there was a smaller night market around the corner. Overall, good location.

What Facilities Does It Have?

There facilities were pretty good. There was WIFI, which you could connect to with more than one device at a time, air conditioning, security lockers (big enough for a small backpack, not your main travelling one), towels, common room, breakfast, key card access and bicycle hire (which came in handy, read more here). The hostel is also a café, so you can grab a drink downstairs.

Is It Clean?

Yes. The dorms, common area and bathrooms were all clean.

What Is The Atmosphere Like?

The atmosphere was really quiet when I went, definitely not a party hostel, but Ayutthaya is not really a party city. I did make friends with a couple of the guests in the common room, even going on a bike ride with one. It’s got a relaxed vibe about it.

Were The Staff Helpful/Friendly?

The staff were absolutely lovely, and only too happy to help and give recommendations about what to see and where to eat. The guy circled what temples he would recommend visiting (as there are quite a few) and was friendly and chatty whenever I saw him, asking how my day had gone, etc.

Final Thoughts…

If you’re not looking to socialise and are looking for bit of time on your own or you’re already with friends, this hostel is ideal.
